Writing is a crucial 21st Century Learning Skill for students, essential for success in college and the workplace. WriterCoach Connection helps build that skill by working with students, one on one, in class, on their English writing assignments. Partnering with secondary-school English teachers, we mobilize community members to connect with their public schools.

Double Your Donation Power Through May 19

Picture
On Saturday, May 19 from 8:00am-6:00pm at Martin Luther King Middle School in Berkeley, coaches and students will gather for our fourth annual Read-and-Write-a-thon to celebrate writing, ideas, and community by reading from favorite works. Join us to share your passion for the written word or make a donation by May 19 to help us meet our $3000 challenge grant!

The Read-and-Write-a-thon is the critical spring fundraiser that enables us to continue to reach out to students who are just beginning to realize the importance of making their voices heard. Your contribution enables more coaches to reach even more students.

"WriterCoach Connection has proven to be highly effective in generating increased writing achievement in Oakland classrooms.
More Oakland schools are requesting WriterCoach Connection as word gets out about the results it produces.
We need this program, and these volunteers, now more than ever."

—Tony Smith, Superintendent, Oakland Unified School District
