Our COVID-19 Story
On March 9, 2020 for the health and wellbeing of our coaches and students, we suspended in-person coaching across all our schools. We decided to pivot to online coaching so that we could continue to provide critical thinking and writing coaching to students in the East Bay. On March 16, we asked coaches about their interest in online coaching and their home computing ability: in less than 48 hours more than 150 coaches volunteered to help. Three days later, we began technical work to design and field test our online coaching model, including making sure security and safety concerns were addressed from the start. We ran trials with teachers, students and coaches at two of our schools in West Contra Costa County. Following that success, we launched our online coaching program for Korematsu Middle School and Crespi Middle School in mid-April.
Help us offer our online coaching free to schools and students until September, 2020!
